Packing, Moving, and Adventuring

Okay, Okay.  So I have been absent for quite a while! I am sorry to be gone for so long, but happy to say I'M BACK!  Because of the extended absence, I thought I'd let you know what I've been up to lately.
Picking Houses, Picky Picky
Yep you guessed it!  We bought a house!  We looked at houses down in Maricopa for months and finally in the middle of December we were able to pick a house that we LOVE!  When we were shopping for houses I was pretty picky because I absolutely had to have a place for my piano teaching studio.  Some houses we came by were pretty massive, but the one we settled on was perfect for us.  And yes, it does have a place for my baby grand, which also happens to be a lovely place to teach piano.  Not only is it an excellent location for students to walk right into from the front door, but there is also a wall that hides most of the rest of the downstairs, so you can't see the kitchen (just in case I'm in a rush to eat and leave a couple dishes in the sink ;)  This makes it possible to live in our home and also teach without anyone having to see a mess! So being picky definitely paid off here.
Packing, Packing, and more Packing
Of course with every move there is always the dreaded packing.  I don't realize how much stuff I actually have until I have to pack it all up.  The great thing about moving is that you can go through things and get rid of things you had laying around that you never use anyway.  Why not donate them and let someone else use the stuff you let lay there for a year and a half?  Although that is the benefit of packing, I'm glad that's all over!
Moving and Unpacking, My Oh My
Now that we are finally all moved down to our wonderful house in Maricopa, there are so many things that need to be unpacked. Luckily, we hired a Piano Mover to move my piano down here which saved us from breaking our backs and also helped the piano stay in tip top shape. We only did this because moving the piano into our house in Winslow was so difficult that I decided to save my husband some grief by just hiring someone to do it.  He loved the idea as well.  And now we have all the rest of the unpacking to do.  So wish us luck as I look forward to starting anew here!
Adventuring
Now this is the fun part!  Getting a whole new studio of adventurous students!  When we got here I made it a priority to get business cards so that I can keep them on me at all times.  After all you never know who you might run in to. ;) So the first step is done and although there are many more steps to take we have a good start.  Music Study Studio has hit Maricopa!
